Usability Improvement of Geovisto Library

This thesis aims to improve the user interface of Geovisto library, used for geospatial visualization. This is achieved by identifying issues using user testing and designing a solution for them. These solutions were implemented, and the second user testing tested their benefit. The result of the thesis is expanding the library with legends, units for numerical values, and tools for visualization of metadata, which all improve the user experience when using the library. Another result is a standalone web presentation of the library, its tools, and data miner.

Time lapse travel

Project "Time lapse travel" is simple 2D adventure game, placed in real environment of Vodarensky les near Svitavy. Content is about fairy tales, folklore, time, magic realism and my own personal mythology. My goal is to create a specific atmosphere with stylization of the theme and distinctive visual art style. Whole project is a connection of experiments and digital games together to ask the question if its posssible for the interaction to provide a subjective atmosphere.

Symbols in the European cartographic work with topographic content

This diploma thesis deals with the exploration and comparison of symbol keys used for official maps of European countries. The theoretical part deals mainly with legends and cartographic symbols as a key element of the thesis. Then an assessment of available symbol systems and comparison of map symbols used in symbol systems for the official map of the Czech Republic is made. In the conclusion there is drawn proposal for symbol system applicable to maps of all European countries.

The cult of Saint Martin in medieval Bohemia

The master thesis deals with the cult of St. Martin of Tours in pre-Hussite Bohemia. The cult of St. Martin established itself in Tours in the second half of the 5th century, became the main Frankish saint during the 6th century, and maintained its position as one of the most important patrons of the kingdom during the reign of the Carolingians, from where veneration of him spread throughout Europe. After the cult of Martin came to Bohemia indirectly before the influence of the Archbishopric of Mainz probably during the reign of Vratislav II, he became one of the most important saints after the middle of the 12th century. The aim of the study is to present an analysis of the spread and manifestations of the cult of St. Martin in pre-Hussite Bohemia and to describe the influences that contributed to this process. The work is based on both historical analysis of sources and interdisciplinary research, which illustrates the overall picture of the cult. The motive of healing in legends places of pilgrimage

The bachelor's thesis deals with the motive of healing within stories and legends of pilgrimage places. It sees the common motives and their influence on selected pilgrimage places. First two chapter are a brief introduction to the issue of pilgrimage, and definition specific terms. The third and fourth chapters are devoted to the motive of healing. In the third part, attention is focused on summarizing the common motives and projecting the story of healing into pilgrimage songs and architecture. The text also describes imago gratiosa, votive gifts and water as part of pilgrimage places. The fourth chapter deals with selected pilgrimage places and how the motive of healing contributed to their origin and flourish.
